Photography can capture the eternity of a moment

Biography

Nicola Canosa

Preserving time, one image at a time.

Photography entered my life at a very early age and, for more than twenty years, it was both my profession and my greatest passion. Through the lens, I documented sporting events, cultural events, people and fragments of everyday life, experiencing the world of photojournalism first-hand while working with a long-established photographic agency in Tuscany.

The years spent at racetracks and in paddocks gave me unforgettable experiences. I photographed the Motorcycle World Championship in the 1980s, rallies, Superturismo and many other events that today belong to the memory of an extraordinary era. The speed, the tension of competition, the anticipation before the start and the emotion of victory taught me that a photograph should do more than simply show a moment: it should bring that moment back to life.

An important chapter in my professional journey was Motor Press, a specialist motoring magazine founded in Florence in 1991 and published by Agipress, my family’s publishing company.

I served as Editor-in-Chief and Automotive Editor, contributing to numerous editorial sections and personally producing most of the magazine’s photographic content.

This experience allowed me to combine photography, journalism and my passion for motorsport, covering not only racing events but also road tests, automotive developments and the wider world of cars and motorcycles.

Motor Press was much more than an editorial project: it was a professional and personal experience that helped shape the way I observe, photograph and tell stories.

Alongside sports photography, I have always explored other forms of visual storytelling: reportage, street photography, landscapes and portraiture. Different genres, but connected by the same purpose: to observe the world carefully and turn a single moment into a story.

Then life took me in a different direction. For many years I stepped away from professional photography, but I never stopped thinking of myself as a photographer. I continued to preserve, organise and protect my historical archive — a collection of images built over decades of work and passion.

Today, I return to photography with a new perspective. The enthusiasm is the same as it was then, but now accompanied by the awareness that only time can bring. I have learned to wait when patience is needed, and to recognise that unrepeatable moment that deserves to be captured forever.

NICOLITA.IT was born from this return: a place where new images, photographic memory and future projects come together. A meeting point between the experience of yesterday and the curiosity of today.

Because, ultimately, photography is exactly that: an ongoing dialogue with time. And that is where I have chosen to begin again. ðŸ“·
